Levemir® is approved for many people with diabetes

Levemir® is approved for adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Also, Levemir® is the first and only man-made long-acting insulin that has been approved for use in children with type 1 diabetes as young as 2 years. Levemir® is also the first and only man-made long-acting insulin to receive a Pregnancy Category B rating.

Switching to Levemir® from another basal insulin treatment can often be a one-to-one unit transition. For example, if you are on 20 units of Lantus® you can be switched to 20 units of Levemir®. You and your health care provider will then need to monitor and adjust your dose as needed. Work with your diabetes care team to decide on the right dose of Levemir® for you.
